Course Details
The Nilam Diploma in Nursing is designed to nurture self-directed learning and inculcate continuing education so that graduates of this program will assume responsibilities for professional and self- development.
This innovative Diploma programme seeks to equip students with the theoretical understandings and practical skills required to function competently as registered nurses in various healthcare settings.
By the end of the course, the graduate will be able to:
1. Develop their knowledge of biological, physiological, psychological, and social aspects of nursing care practice;
2. Provide effective and efficient nursing care that is of professional standard;
3. Restore, promote and maintain healthcare to the public in general;
4. Communicate effectively with clients, their families and other members of the healthcare team;
5. Carry out research activities for professional and self-development.
Entry Requirements
Candidates for the Diploma programme are required
to pass the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with a
credit (or equivalent) in Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics
and one Science subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics
or General Science) and Pass - English.
Course Duration
Three (3) academic years on a full-time basis

There are two intakes each year in January & July.

English and Bahasa Malaysia
Occupational Health
All candidates must be provisionally passed fit by a certified medical doctor prior to commencing the programme. Students must remain fit for both theoretical and clinical aspects for the duration of the programme.
Academic Hours
Teaching is usually held on Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. Clinical placement hours may vary. Some experience of working at night during the programme is mandatory.
Award of Diploma
Students who successfully completed the requirements of attendance, practical assessments and professional examinations will be awarded Diploma in Nursing by Nilam College of Nursing & Allied Health Sciences.

Nursing is a career rich in opportunity. Attractive opportunities await graduates, both locally and overseas, in hospitals, universities, community health centers, clinics, hospices, government agencies, or specialized career with organizations involved in clinical trials and research.
Opportunities for further studies are plentiful. Graduates may proceed to undertake higher tertiary education from post-graduate diplomas and degrees in a wide range of specialist clinical courses, to an MSc or PhD.
Professional Recognition
Upon successful completion of the Diploma of Nursing course, graduates are eligible to seek registration as Registered Nurses with the Ministry of Health.
Graduates are eligible to practice in health facilities worldwide such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Middle Eastern countries, subject to local regulations.
